How could i know if the ingredients in my cosmetics are not from an animal sourse?

Well since I am trying not to use animals as food, I'm very concerned about the ingredients in my cosmetics either. How can I be sure of what origin are the ingredients in my face cream since it is only written on the packing for instance:... PEG8, , Prenoxyethanol,, disodium EDTA ...etc. I don't want in any case to use the poor animals ever if for my own skin! How could i know if the ingredients in my cosmetics are not from an animal sourse?
Here's an excellent website that will help you learn about and find cruelty free products (i.e. no animal testing, no animal based ingredients): http://www.caringconsumer.com/

This site has a list of animal ingredients (all the different names) so you can avoid them.

And www.cosmeticscop.com has a guide to/dictionary of ingredients used in make up, shampoo, soap, etc. Here's a direct link: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/dictio鈥?/a>How could i know if the ingredients in my cosmetics are not from an animal sourse?
it is easy! most companies that do not test on animals want to advertise this great fact and so if it is not tested on animals generally it will say somewhere on the label near the ingredients.
honey, you are going to have a hard time finding makeup like that... you not wearing the makeup won't stop the companies,,,so you might as well use it.

if you are still sure that you want cosmetics without any trace of animal-ingredients, I would consult a doctor or cosmetologist or something. good luck!
They all operate a fixed cut-off date for tests done on ingredients (eg: no tests carried out since 1978 on ingredient x). This is widely accepted by anti-vivisection organisations across the world as the best judge of what is and is not 'animal tested.' A 'rolling rule' is not acceptable because it does not rule out further animal tests on the given product/ingredient.
